Firstrade Account Cancellation Fee
Firstrade does not currently advertise a standard account-closing fee for regular joint or individual taxable brokerage accounts. To
see how to shut down a Firstrade account, read the details below.
Firstrade IRA Closing Fee
Firstrade’s current retirement materials highlight that its rollover IRA has no opening, closing, or annual fees.

If you are moving your Firstrade account to another brokerage, it is worth checking whether the receiving firm has a new-account offer.

Firstrade Transfer Fee (ACAT Fee)
Firstrade’s ACAT fee is $75 for a full outgoing account transfer and $55 for a partial outgoing transfer. This Firstrade
transfer charge is the current amount listed on the broker’s help pages. If you move your Firstrade account to
Charles Schwab, Schwab does not charge a fee to receive the transfer.

Firstrade Wire Transfer Fees

How To Close Firstrade Account
If you have decided to close your Firstrade brokerage account, the process is fairly simple.
First, the account needs to be emptied out completely. Firstrade’s help pages say the cash balance must be $0 and
there must be no remaining positions before the account can be closed. Once that is done, you can request closure by email.
Firstrade can also be reached by phone at 1-800-869-8800. The broker’s current contact page says phone support is available 24/7.
The website also offers email support, fax support, and a support center. The Queens, New York office lists business
hours Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, ET.
Firstrade’s website has a form for bringing over an account from another brokerage firm. If you want to
move a Firstrade account out to another broker, however, you must start the process with the receiving
firm instead.
Keep in mind that Firstrade’s current retirement-account pages do not show the old $50 IRA closeout charge.
WellsTrade clients, by comparison, are currently listed at $49.95 for an IRA termination fee; Merrill Edge lists $49.95;
and Vanguard may charge a $100 processing fee for account closure and a full transfer out.
Transferring a Firstrade account, whether retirement or non-retirement, to another company still carries
notable fees. A full outgoing transfer of an entire account costs $75.
A partial outgoing transfer of only some assets in an account costs $55. Firstrade’s current transfer page
also says a partial transfer requires at least $555 in total value to remain in the account, including at least
$55 in cash.
Before you transfer or close your Firstrade account, decide what you want to do with the assets in
the account. If you're going to close the account, you'll want to liquidate all the securities first.
If you plan to transfer the account, you can leave assets in the account. But you want to be sure
not to trade while the transfer takes place. Doing so can cause problems with the move.
