Transfer From Webull to Tastytrade (and Vice Versa)

If you want to move your Webull account to Tastytrade, or your tasty account to Webull, you have come to the right place. With the following user-friendly guide, you can move your account to the other broker very easily.

ACAT Overview

Both Webull and Tastytrade participate in the ACAT network. This digital transfer system makes moving one investment account into another quite seamless. When making an ACAT transfer, you should follow these steps:

First Step: Get your old account ready for the transfer. This means you need to close open orders and verify that all trades have settled. If you’re going to do a partial transfer, you only need to perform these tasks on securities that are going to move.

Second Step: With your old account ready, it’s time to open an account at the brokerage firm you want to be at. Make sure you choose the same account type (Roth IRA transferring into a Roth IRA, e.g.) and use the same name.

Third Step: Submit an online ACAT transfer request at the receiving firm (this is the broker that will be receiving securities).

Fourth Step: Monitor the progress and verify that every holding you wanted to move is in fact transferred with the right number of shares.

With the step-by-step guide shown above, it’s easy to see how to move a Webull account to Tastytrade:

Step One: If you’re doing a full transfer, close out any open orders and make sure all trades have settled. Tastytrade does not permit trading in penny stocks, so if you have any of these you’ll need to close them out. Although Tastytrade does offer trading in cryptocurrencies, they can’t be moved through the ACAT network.

Step Two: Now it’s time . The brokerage firm does offer some account types that Webull doesn’t offer, like joint and business accounts. Be sure not to open one of these.

To open a new Tastytrade account, just head over to the broker’s site and click on the red Open an Account button at the top.

Step Three: Log into your Tastytrade account and submit an ACAT transfer request. The necessary online form is located at My Money > Deposits. You’ll need to find the By ACAT tab at the top of the page.

You’ll need to first select the Tastytrade account you want to use for this particular transfer (in case you have multiple tasty accounts). You’ll need to specify the account number, type, and name on the incoming account.

On the Tastytrade ACAT form you will also have to link your old account. Webull isn’t listed among the available brokers, so you’ll need to specify Webull’s clearing agent. It is Apex Clearing. If you can’t get your Webull account to link using this method, you’ll need to fill out a paper form and submit it to Tastytrade by mail or fax.

Whether using the paper or digital form, you’ll need to attach your most recent Webull account statement. Although some brokerage houses will accept just the first page, Tastytrade requests the entire statement.

Step Four: Keep an eye on both accounts. The whole process should take less than two weeks.

To go the other way, follow the same steps:

Step One: Futures and cryptocurrencies cannot be transferred, so if you have any of these assets in the tasty account you plan to transfer, you’ll need to exit the positions first if you’re doing a full transfer. If you choose a partial transfer, just make sure you don’t list futures or crypto positions among assets to be moved.

Step Three: Request an ACAT transfer, this time using Webull’s software. The broker’s electronic form can be found on the website (click on the person icon, select My Account, and then select Transfer Stocks) or on the mobile app (tap on the Webull logo at the bottom and then tap on Transfer).

This time, the outgoing broker (Tastytrade) is among the listed brokers. Select tasty and you’ll have the necessary digital form. Webull does require a $500 minimum account value for an incoming transfer.

Both brokers charge a $75 fee for an outgoing ACAT transfer. Neither firm charges anything for an incoming transfer.
